Shadows, New font, Cuboid, Monster Editor, Creative mode

Hello. Today is first version with fast shadows.

This mine was made by Woratiklis and Neon.

Torches have range of 16 blocks but it will be reduced to less than 10, and only some lava lamp will be 16.
When using shadows, terrain loading speed is halved, but fps stays the same – that’s because terrain loading and shadows computation use second cpu core.
Shadows work on standard minecraft servers too – gold block is a torch.

Cuboid

Monster editor – You can find it on forum. No monsters in game yet, but it’s possible to preview by replacing player.mdc file.

Other changes:

  • Creative (unlimited inventory) fortress mode server – change flag in ServerConfig.xml to True.
  • Trampoline block.
  • In mine mode, Minecraft password can be saved for easy connecting.
  • In overhead camera, just one click is enough to walk to destination.
  • When unloading blocks, do not dump near any player.
  • Winter, broken currently.

Next up in the game copies is Minecraft ripoff, MAAAAAAANIIIIIIIIIIC DIIIIIIIGGGEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR

    seriously?

  • You are a disgrace to this country with this feeble Minecraft rip-off

  • Mike:

-.- u guise should be ashamed. You will never be as good as minecraft. I hope notch sues you guise.

  • nope.avi:

minecraft stealing faggots. all you did was reskin minecraft and add a few things and called it your own fucking game. you’re even trying to make it compatable with minecraft smp servers. you fucking assholes are trying to give people who payed nothing to a game which you had to fucking buy.rot in hell assholes

  • asdf:

Way to be unoriginal assholes, assholes.

  • nonMC:

good job! i hope it will be for free…

    NOTCH IS GREEDY BASTARD!

    • Matt:

Really, Notch is greedy, when he lets people play a free “creative mode” while he develops an alpha version? Games don’t get made for free, and they never will. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Also, unfortunately for Notch, Sweeden has a ridiculously high tax rate so I’m guessing he’ll only get to keep half of what he would make. Yeah, that’s greedy alright.

      • DrOctapu:

        He’s still made almost 450k.

        • Finjy:

Who gives a shit how much Notch has made? The game is only thirteen fucking dollars for Christ’s sake, and the result of plenty of work. He continues to update and improve the game constantly and tens of thousands of people spend hours enjoying themselves. If you honestly think him making a lot of money off of a good idea many people enjoy is somehow a bad thing, I feel bad for you.

          • WTF?:

So you can’t make money off your own hard work and ideas? Wannabe garbage should be free. Keep up the hard work of remaking an existing game.

    • q1kyle25:

I still dont get how is he greedy he isnt making this game fucking expensive is he? What i am guessing is that you are a 10 year old kid who cant afford the game since you cant even understand how life works. You probably torrent every game you see huh? he could be working on a job but no, he decides to spend time on it to make it into a pretty big game.if he spends quality time on it he should be able to make money on it…

    • q1kyle25:

and may i remind you this is a one time only pay..hes paying for the website monthly and he didnt even put advertisements on it, and do you see cash items? no.

P.S. Stop giving crap about Notch,I am betting that you are only playing this since you cant even afford minecraft.

    • yourmom:

Notch deserves the Money he gets, your just jealous that he made a game all by himself.

  • Chopstick:

    This is absolutely pathetic.
It’s like you’re not even trying to hide that it’s an exact copy of Minecraft.

  • GU$H:

Well, this is a RIP of MC… If you want ANY Credit at all for this game (well not -this- game but a game like this) you need to actually make it. At this point even taking the idea of MC and making a game anything like MC is considered a RIP. I doubt Notch has anything against things taking his idea…to a point. You have passed that point by far. This is exactly like Minecraft in so many ways and the ways it isn’t takes what is epic about MC away and replaces it with… well bullshit. I would contact Notch if I were you and get this approved or you may run into some copy write problems. I personally see this as something of a Bit torrent for Minecraft or a pirated movie. Notch spent a lot of his time to make MC and I think he needs money in return for that hard work. Its his job at this point. $10 isn’t a lot, man up and pay or don’t play.

    • hey your right.
i think these guys should wait for notch to make open the source for minecraft he said when he’s done with minecraft (not in a long time i hope) :D

  • Hey man, awesome game! Keep up the good work. LOL at all these guys talking about minecraft. that game is a total POS. alright ttyl

    • Matt:

Minecraft relies heavily on the imagination and initiative of the player engaging with the world it creates. So if you deem minecraft a “total POS” then that reveals your creative capacity.

      • jenkinjinkies:

Staring at a wall relies heavily on the imagination and initiative of the player engaging with the world it creates. So if you deem staring at a wall a ‘total POS’ then that reveals your creative capacity.

  • Captain J:

protip: if you’re going to steal a game, try to improve it at least. the performance on this is the biggest pile of shit Ive ever played.

  • Matt:

To the looters involved in developing this clone:

You’ll never get the attention of Valve or any reputable developer by stealing a game.

    Matt – Level Designer

  • random:

Frankly I don’t think Notch gives a fuck if you “develop” an EXACT copy of the game he has already made well over half a million USD with. But I do think he will sue if you attempt to add any kind of pay-to-play version.

    Be careful.

    http://www.minecraft.net

    • Pybro:

Oh, no, he’s said it’s copying.

And really, guys, making your own game from an idea on someone else’s is cool, but copying the ENTIRE FUCKING THING is borderline plagiarism. Smooth move. Also, if you expect people to buy this, you guys are idiots.

  • I was a little :/ at first, but after looking through your fucking awful screenshots and seeing playability reviews, Notch is pretty safe. ffs he wrote Minecraft in Java, what the fuck did you do to make this run so poorly?

Also like Matt says, congratulations morons – every single one of you that contribute to this game will never, *ever*, *EVER* have a position in a professional game design team for your blatant thievery. No competent design company will ever touch you after this.

Enjoy your mediocre clone at the expense of future careers!

    • idster:

are you all aware, minecraft kiddies, that minecraft is a copy of infiniminer?

now go to minecraft forums and yell at notch.

      LOL.

      • Brendan:

Of course we are aware. Notch claims it to be his biggest inspiration on his website.

Where abouts on this website do you guys claim ti be ‘inspired’ by Minecraft?

  • Paula:

    this game rocks

  • P-ton:

    Pretty shameless I gotta say.
I just don’t understand why you have to do exactly this game. Why not make something that does not directly affect the livelihood of someone. Remember that Humble Indie Bundle from a few months ago, when some of those indie developers involved released the source code for their games. I think Aquaria, Penumbra, Lugaru, and Gish. Why not get your hands on that and start developing something more original based on those. There are so many things you could do other than this. Be inspired and and show some creativity.
It’ll be better for everyone. You get something better to put on your resume (ie not something that you blatantly plagiarised) and something you can genuinly be proud of, the gamers get something original to play and not a copy of something from someone else, and notch doesn’t have to worry.

Btw. if you look at his site you will see he has released a lot of his work for free and he is constantly communicating with the community, so I don’t know how he is greedy.

    • DrOctapu:

      >Affect the livelihood.
He’s still made almost 450k off a game that’s not even in beta yet.

      • q1kyle25:

You seem to be defending Manic digger a wee bit too much. How is he greedy? he needs to make a living, he quit his JOB to work on this game? Where would he get money then? He already slashed the price in half for alpha and even offered an extra slot during Christmas I would find that more generous than greedy.

        • nonMC:

oooh yeah he quit his job, and what? he started to play games and stuff and stopped adding anything to game for 3-4 months

          • Finjy:

Do you have Alzheimer’s? In the past few months we’ve gotten infinite maps, a new water model, several new mobs and items, minecarts, boats, and survival multiplayer.

            • nonMC:

yeah… AFTER the buying rate got lower… and before that nothing was changed for months

              • q1kyle25:

Wow, an idiot. He said he didn’t have much time but when summer started he finally had the ENTIRE day to get to work on it. He still worked on it AKA SMP and fixes. When he stopped adding things, he was working on multiplayer… did you expect him to add thing EVERY single time? He wouldnt have time to work on the game such as bugs.

        • DrOctapu:

Haven’t you noticed that notch is slowly getting out of the awesome indie dev standpoint and more into the profit obsessed, fan whoring douchebaggery called published gaming.

          • nonMC:

            EXACTLY MY POINT DUDE :)

          • q1kyle25:

AHEM i shall say what he said and others said. hes too busy WORKING on the damn game to create any servers. And how is he profit obsessed? Did you see him raise the price? did he take down the half price? does he care that somebody is ripping him off right now?(AKA this) NO. So stop giving me conversations that lead to nowhere

  • /v/:

    my ass is PAINED

  • Float:

As long as this doesn’t allow Manic Digger users to play premium minecraft content for free, I couldn’t give two shits about this game. It will remove the retards from the minecraft community.

    • idster:

yeah i agree with this, also a small suggestion to manic digger would be to make thier own texture files aswell, pretty much every block ive seen is a perfect copy of minecraft’s blocks

  • Purple:

    Wow, man.

Notch sure is fucking forgiving in that he just laughs this off.

Any other person would’ve ruined your shit, but hey, Notch is just that cool a guy, and he ISN’T stealing from others, wow!

  • Kim-Jong Il:

It’s a shame this got accepted on fucking SourceForge. If only there was a report button. Or, better yet, hosted on its own server, just so that I can send DDoS attacks.

  • alldatjunk:

Calling Notch greedy is just purely untrue. He communicates with his clientele via Twitter and a blog. He lets people play his game for free, or pay merely $10 for infinite access to the newest version. He has decided to turn a blind eye to this blatant ripoff project of yours. Yeah, he’s TOTALLY greedy

You, on the other hand, got permission from him to use some of his ideas… You took that, and made something that has made him regret giving you that permission at all. You copied his hard work to the point of even allowing your ripoff to connect to the multiplayer servers of HIS game.

And when someone calls you on this bullshit, all you seem to be able to do is make fun of the person, or complain about how much money Notch has made. Are you saying that he doesn’t deserve to make money on a game that he developed himself, and people are willing to pay for?

Your logic in trying to argue this matter is flawed beyond all belief. If you had any respect for the man who originally made this game, and did it better than you EVER will, you’ll stop this project now.

  • sasd:

    Blatant ripoff.
Using an idea someone else made and improving it with your own ideas is alright.
In fact I saw minecraft and though of maybe a mix of Gmod and Minecraft, with a complicated physics system. You could draw the shapes of the blocks or get them prebuilt, all that stuff.I’d call it Blok or something.

You,however, saw Minecraft and thought OMG LOL!!!! SO K00L!!!
I BETCHA WE KAN NAKE A BETTR UNE!!!!!!!
and blatantly ripped it off.Copied every concept. You even copied the ideas for upcoming gamemodes.

AND WHAT KIND OF A FUCKING TERRIBLE NAME IS MANIC DIGGER???

    • Flappin' Happy:

It’s amazing how you could type a coherent response with both of your hands wrapped around Notch’s phallus. Just amazing.

Seriously, guys? It’s been out for two months. They’ve gotten more done than Notch has in the past year.

  • Akhiloth:

I’m Akhiloth, a loyal fan and follower of Notch, buyer of Minecraft. I’m here to suggest you to discontinue developing this unless we can be given a valid reason not to. Near everyone hates unoriginality and stealing, and I’m no exception to the masses above. This needs to stop before something worse happens!
Also, I’ll leave this here: http://twitter.com/xnotch/status/21469941399

  • Minecraft:

This is such a ripoff. I wonder if the owner of this website realizes he is actually violating law. I’m reporting this to sourceforge too, it’ll be down in a few days. :/

    • Anonymous D:

Down for what? Copyright violation? Ideas and concepts are not subject to copyright. Copyright protects expression, and everybody has the right to express.

You fanboys kow that Notch’s gonna move to Hawaii, thats why you’re so mad.

  • Bob t:

Hey, can anyone post an installer for this version, or what is required to compile it

    • idster:

Bob T, goto minecraft.net and register. That’s how you play the actual game, not this rip off

      • Bob t:

I have played Minecraft, and enjoyed it. These are two different games, and I wish everyone would stop posting about how this game i a ripoff, and provide feedback instead.

  • lolminecraft:

I wonder if all these haters have heard of a little game called infiniminer.

    • Kim Jong-Il:

      Yes. What now?

    • Coolwhoami:

Infiniminer was dead a month before Notch started charging for this game, and was not in at all a finished state. Nor was it at all similar in game play type, the point of Infiniminer was to obtain ore for points. Creative play (a byproduct of the game) has been a free aspect of Minecraft to this day.

In saying this I mean to point out the weakness of repeating that name as some kind of defense to this project. The terms of this are completely different. The only thing currently defensible about this project is it’s current free nature, even approaching a money making venture with this is a foolish idea.

  • benq:

I’m using it and rail doesn’t run :(
“Mine mode” doesn’t exist, we dont have that tab :(

  • zemm:

This game indeed seems to be an exact copy at this time, but I see no problem with it. It is completely free, the guy is making the source code completely free, and if you read the project description, it is meant to be a foundation for other games. Seems to be a very good idea as it can provide what minecraft seriously lacks: extendability. I think MC in its current form is pretty much boring (but hey, farmville got popular too), but with a few changes and additions it could be excellent. And this project could be the base for that. Too bad it’s written in C#, so I won’t touch it :(

And no wonder notch is not happy: it’s hurting his business. But that’s the way the software market goes: everything is copied. If you are genuinely good at what you do, it’s no problem. If not, then let the better win. The guy already made a shtload of money from his idea. Now let the others polish it and make even better games.

Keep up the good work, and don’t listen to the haters.

(ps. I am also an indie dev, so I know what is it like to see an almost exact copy of your app. before someone thinks I am a teen torrent-only guy or whatever)

  • pokemaster:

    A wild Minecraft Ripoff appeared!
The wild minecraft ripoff used BE SHIT!
It’ Super Effective! Your TARD is now confused!
Your TARD hurt itself in it’s confusion!
The wild Minecraft Ripoff used copy features!
The Minecraft Ripoff’s trainer broke it’s moral compass!

  • Faggots:

Weather or not Notch is greedy has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I like how people bring it in to distract from the main problem, the fact that the game is copied from another, almost to an exact 1:1 copy. Greedy or not, it’s stealing someone elses idea, it has nothing to do with how much money some faggot is making.

Stealing ideas imo is one of the most pathetic things someone can do, especially a developer for a game. No one will take you seriously, ever. (Except for the few faggots that are sticking up for you)

This game is complete fucking garbage anyways, rofl.

  • WAT:

Wait, how is this not just Minecraft but with a worse interface?

  • 1:

No one wants to play your shitty Minecraft rip off.

  • PornoPornoSex:

Awesome minecraft texture pack! Only problem though: Why did you release this texture pack as a different game and called it “Manic cocksucker”

    • VmKid:

Because the creator has a gigantic ego and a tiny brain and can’t tell the difference between “plagiarized” and “inspired by”.

  • alright:

You could say Manic Digger looks like a copy now, because it is,but give it some time to develop and soon it will look totally different. It will have a different gameplay style, like an RTS.It won’t stay like this for long. So guys, calm down please.

  • Guest:

Oh noes, look at all the Tetris clones! Won’t somebody think of that Russian that did the original! Seriously, this is a CLONE that is INSPIRED by Minecraft. Minecraft is only supported by one person. Manic Digger may be supported by anybody who knows how to read C# code. It’s designed so that anybody can choose to help improve the software which is the whole purpose of Open Source. The author of Minecraft pledges to publish his code at an unknown time in the future. Manic Digger is available today.

  • Cats:

Keep doing what you’re doing, guy.

Of course you’re making a minecraft ripoff, but Minecraft’s origins themselves are a hodgepodge of infiniminer, dorf fortress and a hint of dungeon keeper.

You’re using a language more suited to game development, and you’re releasing this game open-source like. It’d be great to see a community like this take to a game and implement the things that might not ever happen in Minecraft!

  • many thanks !! so much usefull story!

  • Nojuss4:

Shadows work on standard minecraft servers too.
    You messed up.

  • Tae:

How to swear in this blog? There is no way to post inappropriate language on trying to comment.

  • Kim Jong-Il:

    I love you spambots! :D
