I was wondering if the same code that allows for the continuous generation of horizontal land could be applied to vertical land. As in the bottom and top of the world. Some of the highest mts are as high as you can build and there is a max dig down limit.

Doing this could be very difficult, the world generator would have to be completely remade and would most likely be slower and would generate less exciting terrain to fit the whole world into a small compact file. I understand Minetest does something similar to this using 16x16x16 block chunks but this dramatically slows down the game for most computers as it means the game has to load in more chunks as opposed to limiting the height to 128 or 256 blocks tall. Basically in perspective, When your world generates a chunk it has to use a certain amount of RAM to put together the pieces of that chunk. Though a 16 cubed chunk is rather small, The computer has to draw in more of these because they are smaller to create a believable environment with as little cut-offs as possible. When you have a limited height, with chunks that stretch from the top limit to the bottom limit, the game does not have to create extra chunks to fill in those gaps on the vertical axis. This makes it easier to create a believable virtual world, without using extra power, or having cut-offs in the vertical axis. Over all, the current world generator is the best of this time for the game. Don't get me wrong though, it's not nearly as optimized as the 2013 or 2012 builds, but we don't want to make this situation worse.
